Hair Coloring 101

Yes! it is done. I feel like I have to color my hair about every 3 weeks lately. My roots grow out so fast I don't know what to do. Just to set the record straight... I color my own hair. I do not go to a salon and have them do it because it never comes out the way I want it. It is usually dull and lifeless when I leave the salon. They just never leave the color on long enough. I use L'Oreal for Dark Hair Only in "Red Hot" this is one of my favorite colors. I will use the color "Copper" in the summer sometimes. Both you can get at Sally Beauty Salon Supplys. You have to mix it yourself. It doesn't come in a box kit that you can get in the drug store.

Here is a before of my roots.. I forgot to take a full photo. ugh..

So yesterday this was my goal to color my hair. I takes a long time for me since I have really bad arthritis. I always start at the roots in the front at the middle and work my way over to the right and then to the left. Then I get to work ont he back from the neck up. I then leave this on my roots for about 40 mins... yes you heard me correctly.. 40 mins! Then I add the rest of the dye to all my hair down to the end and rub in. This then stays in for about 30 mins. Yes, it is a very long process. Red takes a long time I think. So here is the end result of my roots. See how nice and red it is! A lot of people are shocked by how red it really is, but I just love it.
Here is another photo, my hair always gets a little wild after being colored. but I just love it.
2 peas challenge: would you live your life any differently if you didn't care what people thought?? I think I already don't care what people think! I live for me and my family. I truly don't give a crap what anyone else has to say or thinks. If they don't like what I do, then they don't have to be around. They can leave. I'm not hear to impress anyone but myself.

Eyebrow Threading

Warning this may scare you!!!
Yes! I have finally gone and had it done. It is really an experience. I think I am going to keep doing it whenever I get a chance. To me, it was not painful at all. It was just a little weird because you can actually hear the thread pull out the eyebrow hairs. I think it came out just wonderful. I don't think the photos that I took before and after really show any difference but there really is! I also had my daughter do and she loved it also! She was like "this is the best my eyebrows ever looked".

Here is a before photo.. Like I said... not very good photos.

Here is an after..Here is another shot.. again not the best photos I've ever taken.. and boy do I look old. Check out the gray! That crap is getting done today if its the last thing I do!

And here is another after...In person they look great. OMG.. don't I just look like death! lol.. I can't even believe that I'm showing these photos. Ahhhh what I will do to help keep my friends posted. Stay tuned in for tomorrow. I will try to post some wonderful photos of hair coloring. Can we say Bye-Bye Grays!

2 peas challenge: Today Tue is my daughter's birthday. What birthday traditions do you uphold every year? Well... Over here we always get the birthday person their favorite cake. I have 2 kids that won't have anything except ice cream cake! and the rest of us get some version of a full blown chocolate fudge cake (choc. inside and out) with gnanche top. Some of us have to have fresh strawberries on it, some have crunches and the other has sprinkles and cake crumbs.. don't ask. That is really the only thing that must be the same every year.

Hope everyone has a terrific day.

We Got Snow!

I was not sure it was going to happen this year, but it did. It's not a lot of snow only about 2 inches and of course being on the south shore of Long Island we have a nice layer of ice going over it. ugh. It has stopped snowing but we are expected to get some sleet later on today.

I've been up, off and on since 4am this morning watching the weather and seeing if the school was going to have a delayed start. Finally about 6am they posted 1 hour delays. Our school never closes! They don't want to give up the day off before Memorial Day. I feel exhausted already and I haven't done one thing yet! It is terrible when you can't get a full nights sleep. I haven't had one of those for about 6 days now. I see a nap in my future for today, lol.

This weekend ended up being very uneventful! I did clean a little on Saturday and my sister-in-law who is visiting from AZ was supposed to come over for the whole day yesterday, but wasn't feeling well. I had already starting my baking and cooking early in the morning and then just continued the rest of the day. I was pretty much all by myself the whole day. DH, DD, DSIL, and DS (Joseph) all went to a Radio Control Operators Show in Westchester on Saturday and decided to spend the night there and go back to show on Sunday. DS (DJ) went to a wrestling tournament to help out and coach some of the Middle School boys all day yesterday, leaving me to this house all alone. I truly didn't know what to do with myself! When I know I'm going to be all alone, I will usually plan out stuff to do, but I didn't have enough time to even plan anything. So I just watched some movies and cooked.

Nothing else is going on here. I'm supposed to get my sister-in-law today, but who knows now that it snowed. She doesn't do well in snow. So we will see what is in store for me today. I really wanted to color my hair also today. That actually might happen if everything else falls apart. Boy I'm really getting gray! Thats it for me today. I hope everyone has a great day!

TGIF!

All I can say is "Thank God It's Friday!". Not that it really mattered one way or another, due to the fact the kids were off from school this whole week and I was not working. It just always feels good to it, lol.

For all of you that visited here yesterday, I was able to get my Remicaid Treatment yesterday! Another Thanks to God! I was in so much pain for the last 3 days I didn't know what to do. The pain killers were not really working either. Hopefully the IV will kick right in. I again didn't really get much sleep due to the pain last night, but might be able to get a little cat nap in later.

Now for the Enquiring minds on Threading eyebrows. Its some ancient technique using a string/thread to pluck the eyebrows out instead of say wax. It does look much nicer when all done. Also a little more expensive. I've been dying to do it. A lot of big salons do it I hear.

2 peas challenge for today: With Spring right around the corner. Lets share one thing we like to/looking forward to in the Spring. -- Once the warm weather starts to come around I LOVE to go do my 2 mile walk on the track! It seems like its been forever. I truly enjoy being able to sit out on the deck catch a few rays and just relax outdoors with a nice cup of coffee. I also look forward to the cherryblossom trees blooming and the flowers budding, even though I really do not like gardening at all. Thats just a few of the things that I look forward to.

Thats it for me for today. Oh did I mention that my diningroom table pretty much still looks the same??? lol I think thats what I'm working on today. (Hopefully)
Hope everyone has a terrific weekend!

It's Thursday!

It is Thursday and I truly can't wait to get my Remicaid IV treatment today. I've been in quite a bit of pain the last few days. It is either from a flair up or because I went an extra week of not getting treatment. I should've gotten it last week. Hopefully, I will be able to get it done today for that matter. As usual, there is something going on screwy with my medical insurance that no one seems to know why it keeps kicking everything back. It is just weird to me.

Yesterday, was an exhausting day spent with my niece's and their kids! They are cute kids, but I couldn't wait to get home after spending 5 hours with them. We went really to spend some time with my sister-in-law who flew in a week ago and is going home to Arizona next Wednesday. She ended up not feeling well and fell asleep for about 2 1/2 hours. It was good to spend time with all the little ones again. They really are very cute.
2 peas challenge for today:When you were young, what did you want to be when you grew up???? I wanted to be a Secretary for as long as I can remember! My aunt was a very successful legal secretary and thats what I wanted to do with my life. She had everything (so I thought). I changed my mind when I was about 19. I've been everything since then. I have been a bank teller, worked for a big bank in the credit card department, a donut baker, worked for the DMV!, I was even a bus driver for a while! AHHHHH thats just me.

I have tons to do today. I really need to get my diningroom table cleaned off. This would be the catch all of my house and it is just terrible! This is a full day's adventure! You think I'm kidding??? I should take a photo, but to tell you the truth it is not at its worse, I started cleaning it 2 days ago! Then of course the usual sweeping of the floors, vacuuming of the rugs, cleaning of the dishes (I'm the dishwasher in this house), then I really need to send a box out for my oldest son who lives in Las Vegas his birthday is tomorrow the big 24! I also want to go and get my eyebrows threaded! My son got me a gift certificate for X-Mas! Shoot I also need to go and pay my car loan today. And then on to the tanning salon before (hopefully) I go for my IV. So much to do, so little time.

What a weekend

Hi everyone! This was some weekend. It started Friday afternoon and just continued. Friday we went to Stonybrook University, that is where ds DJ was wrestling for Counties. This is a big thing here in these parts. If you win Counties you get to move on up to States. Unfortunately, DJ did not win Counties, but he did place 6th which makes him an ALL-COUNTY Wrestler! That is huge, not a lot of wrestlers can say that. I'm so proud of everything that he has done.

So day 1 of Counties brought DJ to the mat and the first round match he lost. As long as the guy that beat him won DJ got another chance. DJ's next match was against a guy that beat the #3 ranked kid. DJ really wrestled great and beat this guy. Now we get to go back on Saturday. Another completely full day of wrestling which is right up my alley. I just love it.

Day 2 of Counties.... DJ really needed to win the first and thank our lucky stars he beat this guy 6-5! Incredible. Now no matter what, DJ was an ALL-COUNTY wrestler. The next match was very exciting but DJ lost 2-1, ugh.... now for the last match... he was wrestling GREAT!!! and then this kid grabed his bad knee and twisted and pulled him down right on the knee, ouch! The pain shot right thru me! he couldn't move. For the first time ever I was begging them to stop this match! DJ would not go off the mat like that, he was going to make this kid wrestle for his win. I could not believe the pain that my son was in and still continued! He is so strong. DJ continued and believe it or not almost beat this kid, but the end result was that DJ just could not hold him for more than 30 secs with all the pain and gave up the last 2 points with 10 secs left and the other guy won 6-4.

I'm so proud of him for everything that he has had to overcome in the last 2 years to continue and be a CHAMP!

Here is DJ in his 2nd match. Incredible! (for those who don't know him... he is the one with the white hair now, lol)
This one is also of him in the 2nd match. He is trying to pin this guy.

This is DJ's 3rd match, he wrestled hard here and won! 6-5.This is his 4th match and he lost this one 2-1, ugh..... he wrestled so hard. And this is the last match for 6th place. This was taken right after he injured his knee again! I have to tell you.. I was crying in the bleachers! Some friends called me yesterday to Congratulate DJ and asked me about his matches. When I got the this match and told them that I was yelling for them to stop this match they were like "you were asking for a match to be stopped?" I know it is hard to believe but yes I was. My kids have wrestled their whole lives and they have continued to wrestle hurt, and injured, broken noses, hands, dislocated shoulders, but this I just couldn't take. I literally was a hysterical mess up in the stands and that is just not me. I really had a mental breakdown and could not stop crying. This was DJ's last year for High School wrestling and he went out with a BANG! I can't stop saying how proud I am of him for accomplishing what he wanted to do. He didn't have high hopes of placing 1st in this tournament, but he wanted to be ALL-COUNTY and he is!

He is going to be attend college next year. He is going to go to Nassau Community College here on Long Island and they have the #1 wrestling team for Division 3. DJ is very determined to get the knee back in shape for next season with the big boys!

2peas challenge: What's your most fave food item in your cupboards/fridge at this moment? something u enjoy.. hmmmm.... I would have to say the Chocolate Chip Cookies that my dd's boyfriend made the other day! OUT of this World!

The Sun is out

Hi everyone, well it is Friday and the sun is finally shining here on Long Island. All the ice is starting to melt (tg). We are heading out today for DJ's wrestling Tournament at Counties! I'm so excitied for him. This has been a life long dream for him and he has worked hard most of his life for this moment. I know that he will be be a place winner and hopefully place #1! which would let him go on to States. I just keep praying for him, I pray that he stays injury free and strong during this tournament. I pray that he "brought his game" to this tournament. You know there are times you just don't have your head on right when you get on the mat. He is usually pretty good about that part though.

On another note.... the 2 peas challenge for today: If you had your life to live over again, what would you choose to do over again? Blog about it....there are many things that I would like to do over again. I truly loved High School, I was not a geek, but I had many friends, was on the drill team and just really enjoyed talking with my teachers and peers. I really had a wonderful life growing up and would probably like to do my years from being like 9 to 18 over again. I do not think I would change one thing. I loved growing up on a mini-farm. I loved all my horses, pigs, dogs, peacocks, turkeys, chickens and what everyelse was there any given time my mom thought it would be idea to try a new animal. It was a much simplier time and I just loved everything about it. Ok,,,, maybe not the 40 miles to get to school, I could do without that. I hear now that they have a school that is like 7 miles away now. Good for them. That is just one moment in time that I would do over again.

Ok... I'm getting off here. I have to prepare for Counties.. Please if you read this today, say a prayer for DJ to get through the first 2 rounds today we could really use it. Thanks.

Hope you all have a great Day!

Its Icy out there.

Hi everyone, This part of Long Island got mostly ice and rain, ugh. The roads are pretty bad right now and we are supposed to get some snow later on tonight. Who knows though. I'm just really happy that I don't live upstate. They have gotten over 10 ft of snow in the past few days and its only getting higher. Don't wish to be there at all.

Todays 2 peas challenge is :If you could rename yourself, what name would you choose and why? I'm not fond of my name in anyway, but I'm not so sure I would even want to change it. I never really thought about this much. Lets see.... hmmm...I have always loved the name Brianna Rose Marie. That is what I really wanted to name dd but hubby didn't like it so she ended up being Shannon (another I picked out). I also love the name Victoria Lynn that would have to be my first pick. I just love the way it flows. I would've probably been called Tori since I really don't care for Vicky for some reason.

More wrestling news.... So my son is going on to Counties and he hurt his shoulder in the last match this weekend. We went to the dr. and he sent us to get an MRI and we got the results... Good news.. nothing is torn! He can still wrestle this weekend! He will just be sore and needs to do some extra strecthing before and after each match. Please wish him luck, he really wants this and I truly want him to have it. He is so dedicated to this sport, so driven, and determined that I want him to get to the top before he graduates this summer.

Here are just a few more photos from this past Saturday! DJ is the one with the bleach blond hair. He is so funny.
Here he is going for the win! I was so happy that he pinned this guy so the match would end a little sooner.Well, that is it for me today. I haven't been able to get into the scraproom for about 2 wks now and I hate that, but I have priorities. Can't wait to get back down there. Hope everyone has a great evening.

Its Tuesday!

I can not believe that it has been 2 full weeks since I've been able to get on here. I've been soooooo busy with wrestling the past 2 weeks that I'm exhausted. I'm so sorry that I've been such a bad blogging friend.
We just had the League Finals (which our school hosted, so more work for me) and my ds DJ won the 130 lb finals! He is a League Champion! This is pretty amazing and we weren't so sure he would be able to pull it off since he missed so much practice and wrestling time due to having Mono for almost 4 weeks! DJ was so determined. He worked so hard for this victory and it paid off. I'm so proud of him! Here are just a few photos of him wrestling on Saturday. DJ is the one with the green uniform, yes he did bleach his hair, lol He was so bored Friday night and didn't want to start eating so he invited a 4 other guys over for a hair bleaching party. These boys were so funny. The first photo is of his 1st match and he won that match 10-1.

The photo above is his 2nd match and he pinned this guy for the win!
I will try to add more later, I have to get ready for work... 3 more days of working and thats it. Then I'll really back blogging.
