Ok, I made the sausage bread yesterday and also a chicken cutlet roll/bread! Both came out awesome.
The sausage bread I made first and as soon as it came out of the oven dh was attacking it! Heres how to make it.
Ingredients:
Pizza dough
1 pound of sausage
mozzarella (I like mozzarella, so I use about 10 oz or more)
sprinkle of parmesan cheese
1 egg
I use pizza dough (my sister uses bread dough) I like the pizza dough, it gets just a little more crispy. So I use one frozen dough and let it thaw out. While it's thawing. I get 1 pound of sausage. Its hard to find ground sausage so I just buy the links and then cut the casing off (you can also use the fresh sausage patties if available). I then brown the sausage, drain it and then I place on a tray that has paper towels so it can drain more. I then shred my mozzarella (you can use store bought in a package already done). By then my dough is usually thawed out and now I roll it out into a rectangle shape. Get out as many airbubbles as you can and make sure you use lots of flour. My dough has directions on the package for pizza and bread . I preheat the oven to 425 and make sure you grease your cookie sheet or pizza pan that you use.Once the dough has been rolled out (anywhere from 12 inches -15 inches long and about 6 inches wide) you take the sausage and put it across the middle lengthwise. Then add the the parmesan and the mozzarella. Take the egg and scramble it in a bowl. This is going to be your glue for the dough. With a brush you will brush the egg around the edges of the dough. Fold one of the end from the long side up on the sausage. Take egg and brush on the exposed part of the dough and then fold up the other long edge so then overlap. Then fold up the ends. Brush egg all ove the top and sides. I cook this in the oven for a total of 24 mins. At 12 mins I usually turn the pan around. Whala done. I make up a maranara sause for dipping and it done.
Now I also made a chicken cutlet roll pretty much the same way. Except I used full cutlets and added sauce to the mix. Can you say yummy! Here are some photos of that. This was my first time attempting the cutlet one. It came out ok, but I recommend placing the rolled out dough on the pan before adding the ingredients. The cutlets were pretty heavy and it broke through the bottom when I lifted it to the pan. Live and Learn!
